Generous staff at Cheshire based law firm Chafes have handed over a cheque to the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society following a year’s successful fundraising. The cheque for £900 was given to Sandra Almond, a coordinator for the NRAS group based in Bolton, for the charity.
Chafes decided to focus its fundraising activities for the charity following a democratic vote by all staff. As an important part of its corporate social responsibility policy, the firm nominates a charity to support annually, ensuring that a number of local charities and people in the community benefit.
Staff raised the money through regular initiatives including monthly dress down days, staff cake bakes and a raffle at the Christmas party.
Tracey Hancock, Fundraising Manager at NRAS said: “We’re very grateful to Chafes for choosing the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society as its charity of the year. This money will help us to support local people in the community who live with this disabling disease, their families, friends and carers.”
Julia Hibbert, marketing manager for Chafes added: “Although this has been a difficult year for many local businesses, Chafes decided that it was essential to continue its commitment to supporting a nominated charity. With rheumatoid arthritis affecting such a wide range of people, staff felt very strongly that we should focus our fundraising efforts on this charity for the year.
