LEGAL TEAM HIT THE STREETS FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK
Chafes Press Release PR120 : 10th May 2007
A team of 30 runners and walkers are hitting the streets this month in training for the Great Manchester 10K which is taking place on May 20th. The team from New Mills based solicitors firm Chafes are taking part in the race to raise money for Cancer Research UK in memory of Monica Wilde who worked at the New Mills office of Chafes for 46 years.
The run is the last event in the firm’s year long campaign to raise money for the charity. Staff have undertaken a range of fundraising initiatives since last June including a collection of 80 bags of clothes and items for our local Cancer Research UK shops.
Speaking about the forthcoming challenge, Mike Travis, partner and head of the New Mills office where Monica worked as a secretary says: “The 10K run is a great opportunity for all ages and levels of fitness to really show their support to Cancer Research UK. We will have some people running to beat previous records and others who will take a more leisurely stroll through the streets on the day.
“Our target is to raise £5000 and the whole firm is working hard to make sure that we achieve this in memory of Monica.”
The team from Chafes are accepting donations payable to Cancer Research UK by cash or cheque or online by its Just Giving website at www.justgiving.com/chafes.
