WILMSLOW SOLICITOR RETIRES AFTER 43 YEARS

Chafes Press Release PR135 : 10 November 2008

Solicitor, Michael Rawsthorn has retired from local law firm Chafes Solicitors LLP.  He began his career in 1965 with Manchester city centre firm Leak Almond & Parkinson and in 1970 moved to Wilmslow to run their branch office.  He was a Partner in the firm and later in Cobbetts when the two firms merged.  In 1998 Michael and former colleague John Hunter set up the firm of Hunter Rawsthorn concentrating largely on property and probate work.  In 2007 they merged with Chafes where Michael has been a consultant specialising in probate work.

Since moving to Wilmslow, Michael has acted for numerous private individuals all of whom have valued his advice, benefited from his wide breadth of experience and the high level of service he provided for his clients.  Many have passed on personal recommendations and have created a loyal client list.  Chafes' Managing Partner, Jon Roberts, stated, “It has been a pleasure having Michael as part of our team and we will miss having him as a colleague.  We wish him all the best as he retires.  We also want to reassure all his clients that they will continue to be well looked after and we’ve gone through a comprehensive hand-over process to ensure this happens.”

While the local community around Wilmslow will also miss him, Michael is very much looking forward to his retirement.  He commented, “I’ve had a great career and have watched various changes take place.  When I started I was expected to advise in many areas of law but Solicitors now have to be much more specialised.  I’ve certainly enjoyed my time as a solicitor in Wilmslow and have met some lovely people.”

Taking life at his own pace now, Michael is looking to spend more time being a grandfather, playing a bit more golf, honing his skills at Bridge and catching up on some reading.  And who can blame him – he certainly deserves it.
